Attempting to evade police lands Mayfield man in jail


(Water Valley, KY)   A Mayfield man is behind bars after leading Kentucky State Police on a short pursuit in Graves County. On Tuesday, February 24, Trooper Thomas Clifton was patrolling on KY 2422 near Water Valley. At approximately 10:00 AM, Trooper Clifton observed a white Plymouth Acclaim with expired registration plates.

Trooper Clifton activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle disregarded all signals to stop and fled from the trooper’s vehicle. The suspect vehicle made several attempts to flee by turning onto various side streets and driveways throughout Water Valley before eventually stopping for police.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Stevie Harpole, 26, of Mayfield. Mr. Harpole was placed under arrest without incident and was charged with the following:

  1. Fleeing and Evading Police 1st Degree
  2. Operating on Suspended Operators License
  3. No Insurance 1st Offense

Harpole was also charged with numerous traffic offenses which took place during the pursuit. Harpole was lodged in the Graves County Jail where a bond has not yet been set.
